Ed joined Silver Lane as a Managing Director in 2012. He has over 25 years of mergers and acquisitions experience as a Fortune 100 strategic corporate buyer, seller and investment banker.
Previously, Ed was a Vice President in Corporate Development/M&A at New York Life Insurance Company, where he led strategic acquisitions and divestitures for the largest mutual life insurance company in the United States. Ed was a senior member of the team that led a strategic transformation at New York Life through the sale of businesses in China, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Mexico and Argentina for proceeds in excess of $1.5 billion.
Ed was also a Senior Vice President in Corporate M&A at Prudential Financial, where he helped drive Prudential’s international growth through acquisitions of insurance, wealth management, brokerage and private banking businesses in the U.K., Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil and South Korea. Ed also led several alternative investment sell-side transactions for Prudential.
Ed started his career as an investment banker at PaineWebber, The Chase Manhattan Bank and Socimer International. For a portion of his investment banking career, Ed focused on Latin America where he advised companies and governments on M&A, privatizations and infrastructure advisory transactions.
Ed has an MBA in Finance and International Business from Columbia University and a BA in Economics from Colby College. He has lived in England, Argentina, Peru and Venezuela, speaks fluent Spanish and has a working knowledge of French. Ed lives in Armonk, NY with his wife and three children.
